Valentine Darmois and Arnaud Leick, the partners of the Leick & Darmois law firm, will be giving a conference on Monday May 27th, 2019, in the auditorium of the Maison du Barreau in Paris, as part of the Paris Bar’s Family Commission, on the methods of calculation of debts between spouses.
The French Cour de cassation (Supreme Court) refuses to recognize some claims between the spouses in regards to the payments made by them during the marriage towards the financing of the family house. It considers that such payments were a part of their contribution to the household expenses and, as such, cannot give rise to calculations between the spouses at the time of their divorce.
The conference will be the opportunity to discuss, amongst many other issues, the practical consequences of this caselaw on the liquidation of matrimonial property. See link
